Karen's Savvy CC Colour Challenge

I've done it again and managed to get ALL of the Cybercrop Challenges finished over the weekend!  So happy to have had some time to sit down and just get into it, thanks girls for all the motivation.

The final challenge was Karen's Colour Challenge which was to use yellow, orange, black & white.  I pulled out an old kit that suited and got to it, using a photo taken a couple of years ago by my friend Sandie from Sandie Mallon Photography, love her work xxx

When you choose Hope anything is possible...

A perfect quote from my life right now.  Hope is all we have at the end of the day, right?  The hope to make things better for ourselves and the people we love.  I've used a Lil Somethin' button next to my title.

Good old phrase stickers overlapping a super cute Bella zipper flower, finished off with some flowers and a new Rainbow Splendour leaf.

My background which was just inked with a Crafters Workshop template, then over the top I've used simple white texture paste to finish.

You still have four full days before the deadline closes, heaps of time to get a layout done and uploaded to the gallery!

Happy Scrapping!

Chloe's Savvy CC Word Challenge

The third challenge layout I've managed for our April Savvy Cybercrop is Chloe's Word Challenge which was to use  the word CRAZY on your page.  This was kinda easy with the three children that live in my house...there are plenty of photos like this laying around!!!

Crazy Faces using the remnants of another super old kit out of my stash.  I have added a new pinwheel embellishment from Rainbow Splendour as well as a Purple Pumpkin button and tickets and some WOW wood veneer arrow

A closeup of my cluster including the Rainbow Splendour pinwheel, cork heart and a sticker from an old Sassafrass Lass range.

My title and journaling, which talks about how Nanna used to say 'if the wind changes your face will stay like that!'

There is still plenty of time to play along with entries due before midnight on Thursday 1 May, just upload yours to the gallery to be in the running for some Savvy spending money.

Happy Scrapping!

Kerryn's Savvy CC Sketch Challenge

The first night of our April Savvy Cybercrop saw me sitting in front of the TV, watching So You Think You Can Dance and the Footy Show....and scrapping!  It took me all night but just before midnight I had a finished layout using Kerryn's Sketch Challenge for inspiration.

The sketch looks like this...

My layout New Fish using an old kit from my stash.  I'd nearly finished the layers on my layout when I decided my background needed something...so I pulled out the trusty Sunburst template and inked with different colours for effect.  It really finished it off!

These gorgeous stars were part of an old Bo Bunny sticker sheet, I've inked them and popped them up on foam.  Then used a basic chipboard star as well, just doodling around the edges.  The candy button scatter is another trusty finisher that I add to lots of my work!

Once again I've pulled out the paintbrush and liquid pearls to add some colour to my big chipboard star!  (Liquid pearls are ON SALE AT 30% OFF in the Savvy store right now until midnight tonight 25/4/2014)  You can also see in the distance a Flutterby Designs flair button overlapped with a super old SEI sticker, these were a fave back in the day and I was so excited to find them hanging around in this old kit last night.

My journaling which reads All the kids were very excited to receive new fish from Aunty Nic for Xmas!  Bronte was in awe!

My background work which started off as layers of paper, topped with texture paste, then stamped with a piece of mesh for the 3d effect.  I've then stamped on top with a Kaiser background stamp and finished off with a small banner rubon.  There is always some drying time involved with backgrounds like this, but definitely worth the wait...and if you're impatient like me you can always pull out the heat gun!

There is plenty of time to play along with Kerryn's Sketch Challenge, just have your take uploaded to the Savvy Gallery by midnight next Thursday 1 May.

Happy Scrapping!

April Savvy Cybercrop - My 54321 Challenge

We have started our Scrapbook Savvy Cybercrop a day early so you can get scrapping over the long weekend, with a whole extra day to get your layouts done!  I hope you all get a chance to scrap something over the next few days, I plan to get all the challenges done again like I did last month….sometimes its the only scrapping I do all month!
My challenge this month is a 54321 CHALLENGE and you need to include the following elements on your layout…

5 – EMBELLISHMENTS (I mean, good sized ones, like my flower, chipboard, etc)
4 – PAPERS
3 – DIFFERENT COLOURS OF INK OR MIST ON YOUR BACKGROUND
2 – WORDS IN YOUR MAIN TITLE
1 – PHOTO

My example layout features my Bronte with her dancing friend Brianna, being Girly Girls and playing in the cubby house.  I created this layout the other day ‘just because’…one of my favourite things is to just sit down and get messy, stick whatever is sitting in front of me on a page and make it work!  I have then taken the criteria for you, for this challenge.

Three of my five embellishments – I’ve counted my five embellishments as the two flowers, rhinestone flourish, chipboard bracket & chipboard chandelier.  I haven’t counted little embellishments like the buttons down the bottom, the ribbon or the rhinestones under the chandelier….so keep this in mind….I’m thinking FIVE BIG EMBELLIES!

My three background colours – teal, red & black.  I started with the teal inked through a Crafters Workshop template and then overlapped it with some mist sprayed through a different template.  When this was dry, I then stamped with black Tim Holtz Ink over the top of the other colours, using a Spiral Hero Arts background stamp.  I was taught this technique by the lovely Kerryn, I knew there was a reason she’s been on the Savvy DT since the very beginning…she is amazing!

My two worded title…wrapped around a chipboard bracket which I’ve painted with liquid pearls.

And finally my journaling which reads – Bronte & Brianna just being girly girls and playing in the cubby house @ our place.

To be in the running for some Savvy spending money, please upload your take on my challenge to the Savvy Gallery before midnight next Thursday 1st May 2014.

Head over the Facebook Event Page here or the Savvy Blog here and see what else we've got happening!!!

More chocolate?

No better time to share MORE chocolate layouts than the week following our Easter long weekend, it seems like the whole world is still in semi holiday mode and we are all eating our weight in chocolate daily!

These layouts were all done for an Easter Savvy class taught by me in 2013...but the photos are from Easter 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Easter - a layout of a much younger Georgia in her flannie pjs on Easter morning.  You can see like in the previous post I've once again used a transparency on my background, and lots of paper layering.  I try to keep my class layouts fairly basic so that everyone can keep up, but always try to show something different to expand the ideas people have when scrapping on their own.

My journaling which reads Eating chocolate for breakfast is only ok on Easter morning!

Spoilt By Grandma - all my kiddies with my mum having lunch out for Easter.  I just LOVE this template and teamed with a patterned background and black paint, it just works every time!

My journaling which reads They ae very spoilt by their Grandma!  They adore her and the feeling is definitely mutual.

Some gorgeous Words Or Whatever chipboard that I've coloured in black, a simple but effective way to use chipboard.

And finally - Egg Stash.  The simple mist spray on a plain old doily really makes this page.  A cheap and easy embellishment!!!

Love this WRMK tag embellishment, just perfect for this layout, and oh the candy buttons, my new favourite thing to finish a page off!!

My journaling - Never a lack of chocolate in the Ward house @ Easter time!  We {heart} chocky!

A wonder if I can manage a third blog post dedicated to chocolate?!  I'll keep you posted ;)

Happy Scrapping!

Random Chocolate Share!

In light of all the chocolate that is being eaten in my home and all around the world at the moment, I have a random chocolate share for you!

Three layouts, all scrapped last year and never shared here on the blog, and all involving chocolate!  There will be more where these came from....stay tuned for another choc-filled share in the next day or so.

Messy Maker featuring 2 year old Bronte and a very chocolatey cupcake!  She didn't enjoy it much ;)

Love a little bit of cabachon embellishment...

My journaling - Its not half obvious that Bronte is enjoying her yummy chocolate cupcakes, is it! :)

Title on top of a handmade banner cut from paper and topped with Whimsy Farm Twine.

A layout done for a class in 2013, What A Messy Bunny using a Crafters Workshop template and texture paste for my background, a transparency for the bottom layer of my papers...who uses transparencies anymore! (You'll find some here in the clearance section of the Savvy store).  I've also used washi tape instead of paper strips, Prima flowers and enamel dots to finish off.

A closeup of my title...

Background, paper & washi layering...some flowers, enamel dots and even a pin for effect!

Chocolate...this says it all! Girlfriends after midnight sharing a chocolate experience, nothing better!  This layout was created using the exclusive Inspired Blueprints Retreat kit in 2013.

Thickers title - I'm still a massive Thickers fan!

My journaling and some more Whimsy Farm twine to make these banners on the background paper POP!

I'd love to see one of your favourite CHOCOLATE PAGES, link me in the comments if you've got one to share with me.

Happy Scrapping....and may the chocolate supply be ever in your favour!!!!

Scrapbook Savvy March Cybercrop

Since Friday, we have been enjoying playing over on our Scrapbook Savvy Cybercrop Event page, releasing four challenges on Friday night and then a blind scrap on Saturday night.

During this time I also had a scrap day at home with a few friends, and managed to get ALL of the challenges completed for a change!  It was so great to just get into it again, its been far too long since I felt I could just sit down and enjoy my hobby.

Here are the layouts I have done, I'm super happy with them all :)

Firstly, my challenge, which this month was a Colour Challenge.  This is my gorgeous niece Molly, who is definitely a kid that has a Smile Full of Sunshine.

A closeup of my Thickers title along with a gorgeous Prima flower which I inked to incorporate the challenge colours and a Flair button from Flutterby Designs.

Next up is Kerryn's Recipe Challenge, which I had so much fun with!  I used up some old product and had a great adventure trawling through my stash to come up with the right amount of each item.  This is Bronte opening a Christmas present in 2011, a brand new scooter!

A closeup of my chipboard heart which I've decorated with liquid pearls around the edge, chipboard banner which has been doodled to make it pop and my Thickers title.

Another gorgeous Flair button from Flutterby Designs and an Elle's Studio tag.

LOVE love love creating different backgrounds on my layouts, a technique taught to me by my gorgeous friend Kerryn when we last retreated together.

Next up is my layout for Karen's Sketch Challenge.  I decided that I couldn't do my usual background work with mist or ink, so instead opted for liquid pearls which I painted through a template onto my black cardstock.  I was SO happy with how this turned out, it even leaves a bit of a 3d feel depending on how much of the liquid pearl you use.  I will definitely be doing this one again!  This is Bronte at not even 1 year old playing in the walker.

My journaling :)

A gorgeous heart from Charms Creations and another of my all time fave circle quotes from Heidi Swapp, I dread the day that I finally run out of these in my stash!

Lastly, my take on Chloe's Mood Board Challenge.  If you head over and check it out, you will see where some of my inspiration has come from...

- the globe inspired me to use the map flag banner underneath my photo.
- the airplane inspired me to include something that flies, my butterfly!
- the natural tone of the wood panelling inspired me to use the earthy natural colours in the cardstock as well as the large flower.
- the stripe made me use the stripey paper in the scallops at the base of my paper layering.
- the alphabet inspired me to use different alphas in my title
and finally...
- the washi got me using some washi of similar colour tone.

This is my Bronte and her cousin Molly, sharing the love with a hug.

My background inking, title and date spot.

My journaling and cluster.

Its been so great to share the scrappy inspiration and I hope some of you have had a chance to get some challenges done too!  If not, get to it, over 24 hours till deadline!

You still have until midnight TOMORROW NIGHT (Thursday 3 April) to upload your layouts to the Savvy Gallery, so there's still time!  Follow the links to see the details of each challenge on the Savvy Blog.

Happy Scrapping!
