What a surprise!

After seeing the success of Kat with the UK mag called Scrapbook Magazine, I decided to email them one of my layouts last night. I woke up this morning to find a reply in my inbox...and it was an acceptance! Not only that, they want to feature me in their 'Introducing' section and want another four layouts from me! Oh my god, I'm still in shock, I can't believe it. It won't be out until October, but still...I'm going to be internationally published...me? Unbelievable...

Now for more excitement...my layout was launched in this week's round on Inspired Blueprints. This is Sketch #9 and this month we are all featuring Scrapware on our layouts, as they are this month's sponsor. Upload Sketch #9 or #10 to the Inspired Blueprints Gallery by the end of February for your chance to win an awesome prize from Scrapware.

Today I rang to get Cooper in for a haircut...but couldn't get him in so we decided that Daniel could cut his hair with the clippers. OMG, my boy looks so different!!! Daniel says he looks like a crim, but I don't think I'd go THAT far. Here's a before and after pic...

And before I forget, I have been photo-tagged by the lovely Melissa.

The assignment is:
Go to the 6th album of your photos and find the 6th photo.
Share that photo and tell a little bit about it.
Tag six people and ask them to do the same.

So here it is -

This was really hot day just after Christmas, it must've been on the weekend as Daniel was at work. I filled up the little seashell pool and put it out the front for the kids to have a splash. They loved it! Check out the look on Georgie's face, she's such a character. And my gorgeous niece Em was here (when isn't she?!) helping me out as you can see.

So its my turn now to pass on the tag, so I choose:

Leesh
Loz
Emma
Malinda
Sara
Lisa

Well thats about it from me for today, its getting late, Daniel is out at the club watching the Mundine/Taylor fight and I don't think I'll be waiting up, my eyes are getting bleary...

Cheers,
Sar

My girl is growing up...

Last night we took another step in losing our 'baby girl' and gaining a 'big girl'. We all of a sudden realised that Georgia was getting a BIG gap between her top and bottom teeth, which was being caused by her spending way too much time with a dummy in her mouth. So, we decided yesterday afternoon that the dummy fairy would visit us during the night and leave Georgia a present in exchange for her dummies, and the dummy fairy would take her dummies to some little babies in the hospital that needed them. Georgia is a smart cookie for only just two years old and TOTALLY understood what was happening, and she took it so well. She put her dummies all into a bowl, left them on the table and went to bed without them. She took a lot longer than normal to get to sleep, but we didn't have any tears until this morning at around 6am when she was asking for her dummies...which was soon forgotten when she found her present on the table, which was a Princess Barbie (which she calls her fairy doll). Here are some pics of my girl, putting her dummies out and having one last suck. It makes me sad, but proud at the same time that she was so brave.

Today has been busy, with Mum spending the day, the car going in for a service, Daniel's dad and sister & kids coming to visit, dentist appointments for the family this afternoon. Its been non-stop! Look what Mum brought with her today, a special fabric book she has made for Bronte, isn't it just gorgeous!!

I had a book sort of like this when I was little that Mum made, it was so cute and had bits and pieces that attached and zipped and all that fun stuff. I hope Bronte loves her book as much as I remember loving mine!

Not much to show here scrap wise, all I have is a first birthday card I made for my friend Kellie's little boy, James. I used some of the wrapping paper, which was kinda cool as it coordinated with the present!

I best be off, nearly time in my house for the mad dinner rush, hope your week has started off well and talk to you all soon.

Cheers,
Sar

Cybercrop Challenges complete!

I have been a good little DT member over at Mystical and completed all the challenges for this weekend's cybercrop. Check them out, I love them both.

The first is for Cookie's challenge which is a mini exploding box, which I've done for Daniel for Valentines Day. We don't usually 'do' Valentines Day...but I thought this would be something nice to give him that basically just reminds him of everything we have together, and to thank him for being my world.

And here is my take on Sara's Challenge, which was a scraplift from a LO in our gallery by Kayla-Renee and had to be about a loved possession. I scrapped Cooper's Thomas trains, which is a love totally inspired by Daddy buying WAY TOO MANY trains for his little boy...but is still very much loved by Cooper.

Another cybercrop happening this weekend is at Scrap Therapy, where I haven't spend much time lately because of other commitments, but it was still great to head on over and say hello to all the girls. I ended up completing the Sketch Challenge, which had to include a title from a song out of a movie, for which I used 'Food Glorious Food!' which is from Oliver and was TOTALLY thought by the smarty pants Miss Emma who was sitting in my scraproom with me all weekend! Thanks babe...

I'm so excited that my little nephew Nate looks like coming home from hospital tomorrow, its been a long haul for poor Damo & Hayley and a really tough couple of weeks, but fingers crossed all goes well tonight and they'll have their boy at home with them in the morning.

Not too much else happening here, I can't stop thinking about all those poor people in VIC suffering during these bushfires. It just blows my mind, the devastation...

Bye for now, I have a first birthday card to make for tomorrow, hope a good week is had by all.

Cheers,
Sar

Mystical Cybercrop...

...is underway! Three awesome challenges were launched last night including mine, for which the sample is this...

For the criteria head to the Cybercrop section of the Mystical forum. All challenges are due by midnight Monday 9 January 2009.

I had a top night at Scrapbooking Delights' crop last night, it was awesome to catch up with all the girls and get some scrapping done. Some I can't show just yet, but here is one I did for the Cook Up A Storm challenge happening at Scrap of Difference. This is Recipe #2 which is due today, nothing like leaving things till the last minute!

I have a weekend of being stranded at home with Daniel taking the car to work, which started out very inconveniently this morning when he drove to work with my scrap tote in the back of the car! Needless to say, I drove the half an hour to his work and back as there is no way I could go until 7.30pm tonight without scrapping on Cybercrop weekend! Lucky Em was here, she did a great job of looking after the kids for me for an hour or so.

Thats it from me, I better go and actually do some scrapping seeing as I went to all that effort to get my stuff, I'll never hear the end of it tonight if I don't!

Cheers,
Sar

Thank God Its Friday!

I've been hanging for Friday all week and finally its here!

So firstly today I have to kill some time while getting new tyres put on the car....but I think a little walk with the girls to the park and a nice coffee on the beach is in order. Then home to get myself organised for my BIG NIGHT.

I know, I know...it sounds like I'm going out partying or something, doesn't it? But no...tonight is the start of our Cybercrop over at Mystical Scrapbooks! My first CC ever that I've been a part of as a Design Team member. And then, after the launch of my challenge and on hubby's arrival home from work...I'm off to Scrapbooking Delights for the Friday night crop! Its been three weeks and I'm having withdrawals...life just gets in the way sometimes, I wish I could go every week!

So today I MUST get organised so I have LO's on hand to do, deadlines are approaching and pages have to get finished. Hope you girls don't talk too much tonight... LOL!

My week has been a good one, with another LO accepted for publication. So very excited. I didn't even get a chance to put it up on the blog before it was picked up, so you'll have to wait for Issue #83 of Creative Paper to check it out.

And another exciting development for the week...we're going on a mini holiday! In like 10 days! We're approaching crunch time with our lease car as FBT deadline looms...so we HAVE to put some kilometres on the car to avoid a bill. And what better way to do it than a holiday to Port Macquarie! Have to give my hubby credit, it was his idea and I'm stoked. Its only three nights away, but three nights with him here and not being at work or fire calls, that will be bliss. I can't wait, it'll be our first holiday with just our little family since Georgia was born.

So my day is about to really start, kids to organise, bags to pack for our morning and lots of other things to be done.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I'll surely be back with some layouts tomorrow, won't I? Here's hoping...

Cheers,
Sar

Scrap PP SNAP CHALLENGE @ Mystical

So this weekend just gone, Katrina posted a Snap Challenge over at Mystical for us to do a page using lots of scraps. So having been majorly inspired by a page I saw on Belinda Venables blog a few weeks back, today I did this page and have uploaded it just in time for the deadline tonight. I'm stoked with how it turned out, I pulled random pieces out of my black, red & pink scraps and also used scraps to cut the couples embellishment on the Cricut.

So obviously, today I scrapped, in between bits and pieces of housework, playgroup and taking the kids to the pool this afternoon, at which point my husband disappeared to a grass fire for four hours.

I had a phonecall from my SIL tonight, poor little Nate is still very sick and has now developed a bacterial infection. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days.

Thats all from me today, bye for now,
Sar

Big Sunday!

So my day started today with a 2yo Birthday Breakfast for our friend's Anthony & Linda's little boy, Jared....at 8am on a Sunday morning!! OMG, what an effort, getting the kids ready and out of the house before eight o'clock...but we managed and it was worth it, we all had a lovely morning. Home by 10.30am or so for a relaxing day at home.

Emma & I planned to scrap ALL DAY but our plans were cut short...when she sliced her finger with the rotary cutter!!! Poor girl, she was so upset but trying so hard to be brave. Its all good now but, she's been to the medical centre and is all steri-stripped, hopefully it will heal quickly. I can't believe it - a scrapbooking injury, who would've thought!!

So today is the 1st of February and over at Mystical we have started putting up our challenges and samples for February challenges. The forum is looking great with lots of news and inspiration, so come on over and check it out.

This month I had to do the Random Number Challenge, where I set certain criteria for your page, for example this month there is a certain number of rhinestones, staples, alphas and buttons you have to use. Go to the challenge section of the forum to check out the full criteria. Here's my page:-

This month in our Use Your Stash challenge, the product is chipboard. Here is my page using some random chipboard letters from my stash as well as a gorgeous Twiddleybitz border cut from the Mystical Shop.

You have until the end of February to submit your pages for all our monthly challenges, and have to submit something to be in the running for the great prizes Donna sends out, trust me its worth it. I won a CC challenge last month, and was stoked to receive a kit for an OTP Scrapware frame, its just gorgeous.

Here is a just because page I did while Loz was down, but had forgotten to photograph until today.

And done just in time, Sketch #71 for Stuck?! Sketches, Daddy & Bronte crashed out on the lounge after a long unsettled night at age 4mths. This is how I found them in the morning...

At the moment, my baby nephew Nate is in hospital, I can't stop thinking about Damo & Hayley and hope that he is out soon, poor boy. My love to you guys, if there is anything you need, I am here.

Hope everyone has a great coming up, and fingers crossed for lots of scrapping time for all of us. I did 29 LO's and 3 cards in January, let see if I can beat that for February!!

Cheers,
Sar
